Team Portugal set for centenary edition of 6DAYS® on home soil

October 5, 2026

As the 6DAYS® FIM Enduro of Nations fast approaches in Grândola, Portugal, from 12 to 17 October, Team Portugal are ready to take on the hundredth edition of the event on their home soil.

This special, centenary edition of the longest-running off-road competition on the FIM calendar will take place in Grândola and the Alentejo region. Together with organisers Enjoy & Fun, it will mark the fourth time that the Federação de Motociclismo de Portugal (FMP) will host the 6DAYS®. With such a prestigious event coming to Portuguese soil, it has attracted a bumper entry of Portuguese enduro riders wanting to compete.

Covering all bases, Portugal will be strongly represented with teams in the World Trophy, MOTOREX Women’s World Trophy and Junior World Trophy classes. Eleven Portuguese teams are entered in the Club Team Award category, plus a further three teams in the Veteran Club Team Award class.

Putting their best foot forward, the Portuguese World Trophy team consists of riders with strong 6DAYS® experience and prominent enduro talent.

Set to make his twelfth 6DAYS® start in Grândola, Luís Oliveira (Yamaha) is one of Portugal’s most experienced enduro riders. He is joined by another 6DAYS® veteran, Gonçalo Reis (KTM). Reis trumps Oliveira with an impressive fourteen 6DAYS® appearances to his name. Oliveira and Reis will be joined by Sebastian Bühler (KTM) and Renato Silva (Triumph).

In the MOTOREX Women’s World Trophy team, the trio of Rita Vieira (Yamaha), Francisca Henriques (Honda) and Joana Gonçalves (Husqvarna) will look to fight for a place inside the top five.

Gonçalves will go to Grândola off the back of an extremely successful season in the FIM Women’s Enduro World Championship, where she secured her debut podium result at the GP of Portugal. Clearly on top form, the Husqvarna rider will be focused on giving her best in front of her home crowd.

Portugal’s Junior World Trophy team of Francisco Leite (Triumph), Ruben Ferreira (KTM) and Luís Pinto (Sherco) features a young and talented trio of riders who are all determined to give their best on the world stage.

Both Leite and Pinto were on the Junior World Trophy team in Italy last year, finishing fifteenth overall. With Ferreira, who competed on the World Trophy team in 2025, joining them for 2026, Portugal are aiming for a strong performance on home soil in Grândola.

Additionally, Portugal are thoroughly represented in both the Club Team Award and Veteran Club Team Award categories with a combined total of fourteen teams entered.

Showing important signs of building for the future, the FMP are directly supporting Team FMP Portugal in the CTA category. Consisting of three young riders — Salvador Sampaio (Beta), Lucas Espinha (Beta) and Luís Brandão (KTM) — Team FMP Portugal serves as an excellent opportunity for them to gain immeasurable race experience in what will be the most important edition of the 6DAYS® in recent times.
