Victory for Spain on Day Five of FIM 6DAYS® Portugal as Italy protect World Trophy lead

October 16, 2026

The penultimate day in this year’s hundredth edition of the 6DAYS® FIM Enduro of Nations saw Spain claim a well-deserved victory in the World Trophy classification as Italy continue to lead ahead of tomorrow’s Final Cross Test.

Day Five of the centenary edition of the 6DAYS® in Grândola, Portugal, marked the final full day of special test racing ahead of tomorrow’s traditional Day Six Final Cross Test. A revised schedule saw the World Trophy categories complete one and a half loops of the Grândola - Alcácer do Sal loop. In total, the day would still feature five timed special tests and over one-hundred-and-forty kilometres of riding.

Deserving Day Five win for Spain in World Trophy class

A new series of special tests saw riders busy in the morning work area to prepare for the conditions that were certain to favour the sand specialists. Delivering arguably one of their best rides of the week, it was Spain who raced to the top of the leaderboard on Day Five, claiming a hard-fought victory. Clearly enjoying the conditions, they took the win by an impressive forty-seven seconds over France.

“We did a great job as a team today,” said Spain’s Josep García (KTM). “In the soft conditions everyone was pushing hard and I’m really proud of how well everyone rode to get this result.”

Sensing a slightly slower pace than usual from Italy, France were also on the attack. Fighting with Spain for the win, they were able to gain some valuable time back on leaders Italy and head into Day Six less than three minutes behind.

Moving ever closer to successfully defending their World Trophy title, Italy placed third today and enter Day Six with high hopes of winning. In the fight for third, the United States edged out rivals Sweden by one second to finish inside the top three, but it is Sweden who continue to control the final step of the podium with one day remaining.

“With one day to go, we are almost there to finish on the podium,” said Sweden’s Max Ahlin (Honda). “My 6DAYS® has been good, with some consistent results all week. I’m pleased with how I have been riding and just want to end it strong now in the Final Cross Test.”

After their victory today, Spain strengthen their overall position of fourth, while the United States complete the top five.

Italy maintain lead in Junior World Trophy

In the Junior World Trophy class, Italy also look favourites to successfully defend their crown, holding a two-minute-and-fifty-second lead over the United States with one day to go. Managing their lead throughout the day, Italy settled for fourth today behind winners Australia, with the United States and Spain finishing second and third, respectively.

In the overall standings, Spain hold onto third behind Italy and the United States. Five-minutes-and-thirty-seconds ahead of Australia in fourth, their focus is on claiming the final step of the podium tomorrow.

“Coming into today the focus was to hold onto third position,” said Spain’s Yago Dominguez (KTM). “The sand was not the best for us, but we rode the best we could. We’re looking forward to tomorrow and hopefully finishing on the podium.”

United States edge closer to seventh MOTOREX Women’s World Trophy

In the MOTOREX Women’s World Trophy class, the United States refused to let off the gas today. The trio of Brandy Richards (KTM), Korie Steede (Husqvarna) and Rachel Gutish (Rieju) are determined to keep pushing until the end and won Day Five by over one minute from Australia.

With tomorrow’s Final Cross Test remaining, they are now over six minutes ahead of their closest rivals as they look to clinch a record-breaking seventh MOTOREX Women’s World Trophy victory.

Behind the United States and Australia in the overall classification, France hold third. They lead New Zealand by twenty minutes. FIM LA completed the top five, with Canada in sixth.

“It’s nice to reach Day Five,” said Canada’s Shelby Turner (Triumph). “It’s been a tough week, but we’re near the end now. All week I had managed not to crash, but the sandy tests today got me good and I hit the ground. Luckily, no harm done and I can begin to think about that finish line tomorrow.”

Five-rider fight for victory on Day Five

Day Five saw an intense battle for the outright individual win, with a different rider placing fastest in each of today’s five special tests. García took the lead on the opening special test, but it was Italy’s Andrea Verona who topped the time sheets on the following special test.

France’s Zach Pichon (TM MOTO) won the third special test, with the United States’ Grant Davis (KTM) and Great Britain’s Brad Freeman (Beta) winning tests four and five, respectively.

In the end, it was Pichon who proved the most consistent of all, to secure his first 6DAYS® victory of the week by four seconds over García, with Freeman, Verona and Davis completing the top five. The battle for the overall win sees Verona now lead García by ten seconds heading into a crucial Day Six.

“I really enjoyed today and riding in the sand,” said Pichon. “I didn’t really make too many mistakes and managed to win the third test to get a small gap. It’s actually the first time I’ve ever won a day in the 6DAYS®, so I’m really happy about that too.”

In the Enduro1 class, García topped the classification by fifty seconds over Australia’s Angus Riordan (Honda), with Sweden’s Max Ahlin (Honda) third. Pichon won the Enduro2 category, with Verona in second and Davis third.

A decisive forty-three-second margin of victory in the Enduro3 class for Freeman, over rival France’s Julien Roussaly in second, now sees Freeman take over the Enduro3 lead from Roussaly heading into the final day. Sweden’s Albin Norrbin (Husqvarna) ended his day in third.

The Women’s class saw Richards secure her fifth consecutive victory of the week on Day Five. Australia’s Danielle McDonald (Yamaha) finished second, while Great Britain’s Lucy Barker (KTM) put in an impressive ride for third.
